Play In The Woods, by Laura Pappas

My Mom and Dad got this gorgeous tongue drum as a gift for my birthday. It was made by Michael Thiele and sounds so happy that when I started playing it this song came out.  I’ll post the lyrics below.

“When I, I was young, didn’t worry ’bout pleasing anyone,

didn’t care if I was misunderstood, I just wanted to go play in the woods.

Why am I so conscious of, what you’re thinking and what you could be judging me of?

I just want to be as free as I was, before I heard I might not be enough.

Finding flowers, collecting moss, I built a family, they were all made of rocks.

Maidenhair fern, growing by the creek, finding sunlight in a meadow full of wild daisies!

Put down all the fakeness and all the filters and the images we hide behind.

Let’s just go play outside, The woods are lovely, the perfect place to come alive.

When I, I was young, didn’t care about pleasing anyone, didn’t care if I was misunderstood,

I just wanted to go play in the woods.”
